The nature of Adelaide Industrial Labour Service recruitment service has always required that we act with the utmost discretion and respect when using details provided to us by our candidates. This strict standard also applies to the information gathered when conducting candidate reference checks, from previous employers.
We use this information when matching and discussing the suitability of a candidate for a particular position a client has asked us to fill. Prior to talking to the client about a candidate we check that the role is of interest to the candidate.
Candidate information is stored in our electronic database systems. These have restricted access. The only people able to access this information are our Consultants and support staff who use the systems on a daily basis in order to undertake their normal work.
We encourage our candidates to provide updated resumes subsequent to any change of circumstances, for example change of address, new qualifications and/or skills development etc. Any new information is added to our database and/or replaces original details. Candidates are welcome to access their specific database records.
All candidates are given a copy of the Privacy Act 1988 in accordance with recent statues and Act amendments that took effect on the 21st of December 2001. The Act also requires that we appoint a "Privacy Officer" who is the first point of contact when privacy issues arise internally or externally. Our Privacy Officer is Nadia Lewis (Manager) who should be contacted should any clarification or complaint wish to be raised.
Please note that the Act only applies to candidate applicants. It specifically excludes past and present employees and employee records. Whilst many of our employees, temporary staff and contract staff are excluded, our policy is that should one wish to seek clarification or make a complaint they should contact our Privacy Officer, Nadia Lewis (as stated above). |
